Having reviewed the number of enquiries, and mediations that our expert national panel, of forty strong mediators have responded to, and or undertaken in 2024. It was clear that mediation in London had the highest percentage of cases mediated, in fact 45% of the mediations we conducted came from London clients.
To include those who preferred the location to be London, usually because it was half way between the parties. The client base varied, with 59% of the mediations being referred from the legal profession. Solicitors, law firms, and barrister chambers.
18% came from businesses, organisations and companies. 9% came from charities. 5% came from local authorities, the NHS and police. 5% came from litigants in person. The final 4% came from individuals where at least one party was legally represented.
Out of these 45%, which equated to 149 mediations, 71%, 106 cases were commercial disputes, 19%, 28 cases, were workplace disputes, the remaining 10%, 15 cases were boundary disputes.
Overall, 90%, 134 of the cases settled at mediation, saving the parties countless time, money and stress.
